MWTherapy is Empower EMR now
Type mwtherapy.com into a browser and you are forwarded, permanently, to Empower EMR. The site there describes a physical therapy EMR from MerlinWave, Inc., 100% web based, in business since 2004 and based in Boston. MWTherapy, also written MW Therapy, no longer appears on it. If you already use the product and are looking for where to sign in, Empower’s homepage links to app.empoweremr.com.
Empower sells two plans. AI Premium is pitched at outpatient private PT practices and lists scheduling, a patient portal, insurance claim billing, authorization tracking, plan-of-care tracking, a home exercise program, kiosk check-in and reporting. AI Premium Plus adds an unlimited AI documentation scribe. Neither plan shows a price; the page promises pricing that is “fair” and no long-term contract.
So reviews and price quotes posted under the MWTherapy name may describe an older version of the product. Read the date on anything you find.

Send the same sheet to every vendor you are talking to. Identical inputs are what turn a pile of quotes into a comparison.
What to ask before you sign
- What do year one and year three cost for our clinicians, locations and plan?
- If we open a second location next year, what happens to the price?
- Which charges are one-time (onboarding, data conversion) and which recur?
- Is any increase at renewal capped?
- Does exporting our data on the way out cost anything?
The second question is the one growing clinics forget, and a first quote almost never answers it unprompted.

Per-learner vendors bill you more for every client you take on before that client generates revenue. Seats follow your team, not your caseload.
At a six-therapist clinic that is six clinical seats and nothing for patients, so $120 a month. Open a second location and it stays $120, because locations are not a billing unit here; a front-desk hire and an outside biller do not move it either.
Set that against whatever Empower quotes, but compare like with like. Empower’s plan includes insurance claim billing and a home exercise program. We do not transmit claims to payers (your biller receives charges and claim-form data as an export, listed box by box) and we have no exercise library.
